About the position

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will play a vital role in the healthcare team, providing essential care and support to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. This position requires you to work closely with patients who are experiencing renal failure, ensuring they receive safe, comfortable, and high-quality care. You will be supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN), and your responsibilities will include a variety of patient care activities that are critical to the treatment process. Your day-to-day tasks will involve gathering patient statistics before and after treatment, initiating and monitoring dialysis treatment, and terminating treatment as needed. You will also be responsible for collecting blood samples according to physician orders, which is crucial for monitoring patient health and treatment efficacy. In addition to direct patient care, you will ensure that all dialysis machines are prepared and maintained to the highest standards. This includes cleaning and disinfecting machines after each use, conducting safety checks, and logging results to comply with quality control protocols. Safety and quality are paramount in this role. You will be expected to adhere to all company policies, state and federal regulations, and safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment. Participation in staff meetings and continuing education is also a requirement, as it helps you stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes in the healthcare field. This position is not just about performing tasks; it’s about making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with kidney disease and contributing to the overall mission of US Renal Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care during dialysis treatment.
  • Gather patient statistics before and after treatment.
  • Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment.
  • Terminate treatment and collect blood samples as per physician orders.
  • Prepare and maintain dialysis machines, ensuring they are clean and disinfected after each use.
  • Conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control.
  • Adhere to safety measures and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education offerings.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
  • Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.
  • Comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
  • Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
  • Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director within 8 weeks of hire.
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state.
  • Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire and maintained in good standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in phlebotomy is preferred.
