About the position

The Diesel Bus Maintenance Manager at Academy Bus is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of diesel engines in tour buses. This hands-on role involves training and supervising mechanics and cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of maintenance, and managing the repair processes to keep the fleet operational.

Responsibilities

• Train and supervise mechanics and cleaning staff.
• Repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose modern tour bus engines and transmissions.
• Perform reconditioning, preventative, and routine maintenance.
• Conduct inspections and road tests.
• Maintain warranty and repair documentation.
• Diagnose, inspect, install, disassemble, and clean various bus components including diesel engines, electronic systems, and brake systems.
• Respond to road calls as needed.
• Perform general welding and fabrication.

Requirements

• 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance experience.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Must have own tools.
• Proven ability to use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, and testing instruments.
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic devices such as DDEC readers and ATEC readers.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
• Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
• CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required; willingness to obtain a CDL License is desirable.
