About the position

D Taylor Investment Group LLC is seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic to join our team in Arlington, Virginia. We operate in and around the DC, MD, and VA area, providing fleet maintenance and emergency roadside assistance for heavy-duty vehicles. This position is guaranteed for 40 hours a week, with pay issued every Friday. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be provided with a service van in excellent condition to facilitate your work. We are looking for a technician with at least 5 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance. In this role, you will collaborate with other repair team members to ensure that vehicles are operating safely and efficiently according to the drivers' needs. Your responsibilities will include consulting with customers, reading work orders, and evaluating the tasks required for each job. You will prepare work plans after fully scoping out the issues and running diagnostic tests on diesel engines to interpret results and offer suitable solutions. Additionally, you will inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts, and repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts. You will also conduct field visits in case of emergencies or sudden breakdowns, test drive repaired vehicles to gauge their performance, and complete routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks. Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles will also be part of your duties. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
  • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
  • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
  • Specialization in auto/manual transmission (Allison/Eaton ETC)
  • Specialization in DD13/DD15 Cummins ISX-15 Paccar motors etc
  • Specialization in the operations of the DEF/DPF/SCR
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
  • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
  • A valid driver's license
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
