About the position

The position involves providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues to prevent breakdowns, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve overall fleet reliability. This role requires a combination of technical skills, experience in fleet maintenance, and the ability to mentor junior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances.
  • Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles and company-owned equipment according to legal and regulatory standards.
  • Execute quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance repairs to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair on refrigeration units (Reefer).
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications across various vehicle systems.
  • Document all work performed on work orders.
  • Mentor and teach Fleet Technician I and II to aid in their development.
  • May perform moderate supervisory roles when Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors are unavailable.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair, or Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training with 4 years of experience, or a High school diploma/GED with relevant experience.
  • Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred, not required).
  • Annual Inspector Certification (preferred).
  • ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (preferred).
  • EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC Refrigeration Certification.
  • Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers.

  • Expert knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components.
  • Expert knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on all equipment.
  • Expert knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of refrigeration systems.
  • Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
  • Moderate computer skills and knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of all DOT (FMCSA) regulations.
  • Moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
  • Moderate knowledge of environmental regulations.
