About the position
Van Wall Equipment is seeking an Ag Technician responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing agricultural equipment, particularly John Deere machinery. The role involves using specialized tools to perform maintenance and repairs, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs.
- Perform required inspections.
- Repair, service, and assemble machines.
- Check and report shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager.
- Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
- Complete disassembly and inspection efficiently for parts ordering and scheduling.
- Maintain records of time, parts, and supplies used in repairs and servicing.
- Document each job by recording unit serial number and hour meter reading.
- Participate in service training programs for skill development.
- Report additional work required for proper operation and safety of equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe shop facility and environment.
- Stay current with technical changes.
- Participate in special programs like service package sales and demonstrations.
- Represent the dealership professionally as a Service Technician.
- Obtain core training through JDU and maintain it with continuing education.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience performing service repairs.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in agricultural equipment repair.
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs repeatedly.
- Basic Service Technician certifications preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license is required.
