About the position

The Diesel Mechanic-Level C position at GFL is focused on maintaining and repairing Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to ensure they are safe and operational for waste management services. This role involves working under the guidance of experienced mechanics, participating in training, and performing inspections and repairs to support the company's mission of providing sustainable waste management solutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings under supervision.
• Participate in training classes and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functioning.
• Perform DOT, PM, brake, and safety inspections on all vehicles under supervision.
• Complete work orders, order parts, and perform administrative duties as required.
• Maintain a clean work area and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

• Entry-level knowledge/experience of at least 1+ years in diesel mechanics or related field.
• Willingness to learn more complex diagnostic and repair processes.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and with customers and external vendors.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using diagnostic software is preferred.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
• ASE certifications beneficial.
