About the position

As an experienced Technician I at Penske, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring they remain safe and operational for customers. This role involves working independently on major and minor repairs, mentoring less experienced technicians, and utilizing advanced vehicle maintenance technology. You will be part of a team that prioritizes safety and reliability while also receiving ongoing training to advance your career.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Conduct road tests to diagnose vehicle problems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Utilize Penske's tools and technologies for logging and completing repairs.
  • Participate in Penske's technician training programs.
  • Assist with other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials).
  • Experience using all tools of the trade, including welding equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications preferred.
  • Experience with OEM training courses.
