About the position

The Senior Level Diesel Technician at Ryder in Gorham, Maine, is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles in the company's truck fleet. Responsibilities

  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance on vehicles.
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers.
  • Completes detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Replaces defective components as instructed.
  • Works unsupervised on most tasks.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties as needed.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Works in accordance with safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Acts as a mentor for junior technicians.
  • Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment required.
  • Knowledge of computer skills including PC and Windows.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
