About the position

Loomis is seeking a dedicated and skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. With a network of nearly 200 branches, Loomis provides essential armored transportation and cash management services across the United States. Our commitment to employee development is evident, as many of our current managers and executives began their careers in entry-level positions such as driver/guards and tellers. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet vehicles, which are vital for our operations. The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for servicing and repairing all fleet vehicles, performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring that all vehicles are in optimal working condition. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $28.00, depending on experience, with an additional $0.50 per hour for each current certification held. The Fleet Mechanic will perform essential job functions including routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire checks on vehicles of various sizes. The role requires the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, engine, and electrical irregularities effectively. Additionally, the mechanic will be responsible for driving both automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing purposes, as well as for the transfer and delivery of parts. Inventory management and ordering of necessary parts and supplies will also be part of the job responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Service and repair all fleet vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including lube, oil changes, and inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, engine, and electrical issues on all size vehicles.
  • Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing and delivery of parts.
  • Perform inventory management and order parts and supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand technical service manuals and repair orders in English.
  • Ability to write work orders and purchase orders.
  • Effective verbal communication skills in English for ordering parts and supplies.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles ranging from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift (up to 50 lbs.), push, pull, climb, and lie on back for prolonged periods.
