About the position

The Diesel Mechanic position at Republic Services involves performing repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency of the fleet, supporting drivers, and maintaining advanced vehicles. Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks.
• Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle components and systems.
• Perform preventative and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road.
• Repair chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, and air brake systems.
• Conduct engine repair and maintenance, including suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication as needed.
• Safely provide road service to ensure equipment is returned to operation efficiently.
• Identify sources of malfunctions using electronic tools.
• Complete applicable company training programs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technician position with knowledge of gasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Ability to perform basic inspections on heavy truck or automotive systems such as suspensions, steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, and drive train.
• Valid Driver's License is required; Commercial Driver's License is a plus.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
