About the position

The Senior Mobile Diesel Technician at Torque by Ryder is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy-duty trucks. This permanent, full-time position offers a flexible 40-hour work week with opportunities for additional training and performance incentives. Technicians will utilize their mechanical expertise to perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and related systems, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
• Coordinate work schedules as required by customers and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Road test vehicles to identify causes of complaints and ensure quality of repair work performed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required for the job.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• Ability to understand and adhere to company policies in all areas.

Nice-to-haves

• Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
• Experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment.
