About the position
The Diesel Technician Apprentice position at Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is designed for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. This role involves providing roadside assistance, performing preventative maintenance, and gaining hands-on experience in various diagnostic and repair tasks related to diesel engines and systems. The apprenticeship offers a structured learning experience with opportunities for career development and growth within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services
- Learn preventative maintenance services
- Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Conduct air conditioning & heating diagnostics and repairs
- Execute wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs
- Carry out air system diagnostics and repairs
- Diagnose air brakes and charging systems
- Utilize basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement
- Lookup and acquire necessary parts
- Comply with company safety policies and procedures
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed
- Obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with no professional experience required
- Ability to move and lift 75+ pounds
- Ability to work in various temperatures
