About the position
The Diesel Technician Apprentice position at Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is designed for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. This role involves assisting customers and drivers while gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of diesel maintenance and repair. The apprenticeship program provides comprehensive training in diagnostics and repairs, ensuring that apprentices develop the necessary skills to succeed in the field.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services
- Learn preventative maintenance services
- Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Conduct air conditioning & heating diagnostics and repairs
- Execute wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs
- Carry out air system diagnostics and repairs
- Perform air brakes diagnostics and repairs
- Conduct charging system diagnostics and repairs
- Utilize basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement
- Participate in parts lookup and acquisition
- Comply with company safety policies & procedures
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed
- Obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with no professional experience required
- Ability to move and lift 75+ pounds
- Ability to work in various temperatures
