About the position

The Diet Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Registered Dietitian by implementing nutrition and dietary services for clients in a residential setting focused on eating disorders. This part-time position involves hands-on experience in dietary support, menu planning, and maintaining a positive mealtime environment, ultimately preparing the technician for a future role as a Registered Dietitian.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dietary support and client menu planning.
  • Maintain a secure and encouraging mealtime environment.
  • Advise on food preparation as necessary.
  • Discern between appropriate and inappropriate client eating behaviors.
  • Consult with the Registered Dietitian to ensure the best standard of nutrition and dietary services is implemented.
  • Monitor client consumption of appropriate exchange patterns.
  • Enforce dietary program and advise clients on food choices.
  • Lead engaging nutrition education groups.
  • Implement specific dietary exchange patterns based on portion size and caloric recommendations.

Requirements

  • Education or relevant experience in the field of nutrition and/or food service preferred.
  • Must possess a current Driver's License and be in good standing.
