About the position

The Dietary Aide at Antelope Valley Care Center plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by assisting with food service routines, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that dietary needs are met efficiently. This full-time position requires collaboration with the Cook and Dietary Supervisor to provide quality meal service and maintain a sanitary kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Learn food service routine quickly.
• Set up meal trays.
• Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
• Assist with serving meals.
• Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift.
• Observe water temperatures of the dishwasher during cycles.
• Operate the dishwasher.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Sweep and mop the kitchen.
• Carry out trash and garbage.
• Put groceries away in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
• Leave the kitchen clean and sanitary.
• Assist the cook or dietary supervisor when called upon.
• Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
• Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Work in cooperation and harmony with personnel in all departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
