About the position

The Dietary Aide PRN position at AHC Covington Care involves assisting with various dietary functions as directed, including meal preparation, serving, and cleanup duties. The role is part-time and requires flexibility in scheduling, with shifts typically from 6am-2pm or 1:30pm-8:30pm. The Dietary Aide is expected to perform tasks in compliance with federal and state regulations and facility policies, ensuring a clean and safe environment for food service delivery to patients.

Responsibilities

• Set tables, serve food, and clear tables.
• Remove food trays from carts and transport them to the washing area.
• Dispose of garbage and trash; keep work areas clean and free of hazardous items.
• Assist in establishing a food service production line to ensure timely meal preparation.
• Assist in and/or direct scheduled cleaning duties.
• Assist cook in preparing meals.
• Wash dishes using correct procedures.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain dietary floors and work areas.
• Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum completion of tenth (10th) grade in high school.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Follow established safety and infection control regulations and policies.
• Report disrepair of kitchen and dietary appliances and equipment.
• Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately.
• Participate in ongoing educational programs related to the job.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and facility business.
• Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures.
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism and warmth in patient care.
• Report complaints and grievances to supervisor.
• Effective communication and active listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Reliable transportation.
