About the position
The Dietary Aide position at Redlands Healthcare Center involves supporting the kitchen staff in food service operations. The role is essential for maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen, assisting with meal preparation, and ensuring that food safety standards are met. The Dietary Aide will report directly to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the overall dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities
- Learn food service routine quickly.
- Set up meal trays for service.
- Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
- Assist with serving meals to residents.
- Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift.
- Observe water temperatures of the dishwasher during cycles.
- Operate the dishwasher effectively.
- Prepare nourishments and snacks as needed.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen area.
- Carry out trash and garbage disposal.
- Put groceries away in a safe and orderly manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen after use.
- Clean work surfaces and refrigerators regularly.
- Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions.
- Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
Nice-to-haves
- Food handlers' certificate (must obtain and maintain).
