About the position

The Dietary Aide at Ridgewood Health Care plays a crucial role in supporting food preparation and service within a long-term care facility. This position involves assisting in meal preparation, serving food, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area, all while adhering to established food policies and procedures. The role requires flexibility in working hours and a patient demeanor when interacting with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned by the Nutrition Manager.
• Assist the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Set up the dining room and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Follow established reporting procedures for supply or equipment needs, damaged fixtures, and unsafe conditions.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
• Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
• Understand facility's fire and disaster plans and follow established procedures during drills and emergencies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including protected health care information.
• Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Director.
• Participate in continuing education relevant to the job description and long-term care to enhance skills and abilities.
• Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of the organization and communicate ideas for improvement.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Nutrition service experience preferred; long-term care experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in food service or dietary roles in healthcare settings.
