About the position

The Dietary Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the dietary team at Berea Health & Rehabilitation. This position involves working closely with the Cook to implement dietary changes, assist in menu planning, and ensure the quality and safety of food service for residents. The role emphasizes teamwork and a commitment to providing high-quality care in a residential setting, contributing to the overall well-being of the residents.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Cook to implement recommended changes and assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by attending physicians.
• Recognize and respond to dietary emergencies, documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes.
• Complete forms, reports, evaluations, and studies to assure control of equipment and supplies.
• Assist in developing methods to determine the quality and quantity of food served.
• Meet with the Dietary Supervisor to identify and correct problem areas and improve services.
• Ensure that food service is properly maintained to meet the needs of residents.
• Assist the Cook in the preparation of food.
• Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in accordance with portion control procedures and therapeutic diets.
• Inspect diet trays for accuracy, portion control, and appealing layout.
• Evaluate the kitchen and dietary area for upkeep, supply control, cleanliness, and safety.
• Operate the dishwasher and clean the kitchen area and equipment.
• Report disrepair of dietary equipment and supplies.

Requirements
