About the position

The Dietary & Food Service Aide I position at Tufts Medicine involves working under general supervision in various food service locations, including retail, patient, and catering operations. The role encompasses all aspects of food services, such as assisting with menu selection, food preparation, delivery, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. This per diem position requires flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to prepare food items for cooking, serving, and storing.
  • Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, ensuring proper storage and labeling of food items.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment according to hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Sets up food stations with various food products and utensils for service.
  • Provides stocking and replenishing duties in the service area.
  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables, breaking down stations after meal periods.
  • Interacts with customers in serving, retail, dining, and patient areas.
  • Operates a cash register, handling payments and issuing receipts.

Requirements

  • Food service experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year in hospital food services.
