About the position
The Dietary & Food Services Aide I position at MelroseWakefield Hospital involves working under general supervision in various food service areas, including retail, patient, and catering operations. The role focuses on assisting with menu selection, food preparation, delivery, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. This part-time position requires flexible availability for day and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays, and is essential for ensuring that patients receive appropriate meals according to their dietary needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and communicates accurate and updated diet order information to ensure patients receive appropriate meals and nourishments.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishware, equipment, and workstations, including the dish room and kitchen areas.
- May operate a cash register, receiving payments and issuing receipts for goods or services.
- Delivers trays to patients and picks up trays from patients after meals.
- Ensures accurate tray assembly on the patient tray line and prepares menu items, salads, sandwiches, and desserts.
Requirements
- Food service experience.
- ServSafe certification within 6 months of employment.
Nice-to-haves
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year in hospital food services.
