About the position

The Dietary Services Supervisor/Certified Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing the dietary services within a healthcare facility, ensuring that all meals provided to residents are nutritious, appealing, and compliant with relevant regulations. This role involves a combination of clinical, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities. The supervisor will ensure the timely preparation and delivery of meals according to physician's orders, while also maintaining a safe and sanitary working environment in accordance with Federal and State guidelines. The position requires effective interaction with interdisciplinary team members to meet the dietary needs of residents, implementing and revising menus with the guidance of a Registered Dietician. In the administrative capacity, the supervisor will maintain all necessary records and documentation as per Federal, State, and company requirements. This includes managing inventory of food and supplies to ensure that resident needs are met according to planned menus. Participation in meetings and in-services is also expected, along with the ability to forecast departmental needs and ensure effective communication across departments to guarantee quality resident care. As a supervisory role, the Dietary Services Supervisor will assign tasks to staff, monitor their performance, and evaluate the quality of services provided. Strong leadership and supervisory skills are essential to meet departmental goals and address any performance issues that may arise. The supervisor will also be responsible for adhering to company standards for resolving consumer concerns and ensuring that all resident rights are protected.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of nutritious and attractive meals to all residents according to physician's orders.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment in compliance with Federal and State guidelines.
  • Serve meals according to resident requests, preferences, and needs.
  • Implement and revise menus with Registered Dietician review and guidance to meet resident needs.
  • Interact effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain all records and documentation according to Federal, State, and Company requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies to meet resident needs and according to policy and planned menus.
  • Participate in assigned meetings and in-services.
  • Operate the department with sensitivity to forecast needs.
  • Ensure the exchange of essential information with all departments as necessary to ensure quality resident care.
  • Work with Registered Dietician to meet health goals of the residents.
  • Assign staff tasks to meet department work goals.
  • Monitor staff performance and address any needs.
  • Evaluate the quality of services accomplished by staff.

Requirements

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Graduate of California State approved DSS course, CDM certification with Title 22 coursework, or bachelor's degree in a related clinical nutrition field.
  • One year experience in healthcare related food service preferred.
