About the position

The Dietary Technician is responsible for overseeing the nutritional needs of children in a home-like environment. This role involves collaboration with dietitians, therapists, and clinical directors to ensure that meals are prepared and served according to individual dietary requirements. The technician must manage food preparation, sanitation, and compliance with health standards while advocating for the residents' rights and promoting their independence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement residents' nutritional meal plans, menu cards, and formulas per physician/dietitian orders.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary containers, dinnerware, and adaptive equipment per established requirements and policies.
  • Assure compliance with policies and ICF/MR and Health Department Standards, participating in inspections and correcting deficiencies.
  • Supervise Dietary Assistant to ensure adherence to meal plans according to child’s PCP and dietitian/physician orders.
  • Participate in training with feeding/speech therapists and dietitians, providing in-service training to staff as necessary.
  • Ensure diets are prepared in accordance with the latest recommendations of the Food and Nutrition Board.
  • Prepare and serve meals/formulas with correct measurements in a home-like setting, monitoring correct positioning.
  • Facilitate normalized dining experiences appropriate to residents' functional abilities.
  • Prepare and maintain all menus, ensuring seasonal changes and retention for 30 days.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in residents' status with Clinical Director and dietitian.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Contribute positively to an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Advocate on behalf of residents' rights and independence.
  • Maintain a family home atmosphere while respecting dignity and confidentiality of all residents.
  • Assist in assessment programs to enhance residents' independence.
  • Attend and participate in training and staff meetings as requested.
  • Utilize safety procedures and equipment when lifting residents or moving equipment.
  • Enforce policies and procedures as outlined in Hilltop Operations and Personnel Manual.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of program standards.
  • Report suspected incidences of abuse and neglect to supervisor immediately.
  • Execute other tasks or related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License may be required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required.
  • Blood Borne Pathogens training may be required.
