About the position

As a Dietary Technician PRN at Rose Medical Center, you will play a vital role in the healthcare team, providing high-quality Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients across various age groups and acuity levels. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive appropriate nutritional care following the Nutrition Care Process. This position requires you to perform timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy, as well as conduct nutrition-focused physical exams on patients identified as being at nutritional risk. You will be responsible for evaluating the nutritional needs of patients based on their age, development, and specific health conditions. This includes developing and implementing individualized nutritional plans of care, monitoring the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy interventions, and providing nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers. Adherence to nutrition care guidelines and protocols is essential, as is integrating the Academy Code of Ethics into your practice. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will participate in the competency assessment process, ensuring that you achieve a passing score on RD chart audits. Responsibilities

  • Perform timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy.
  • Conduct nutrition-focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.
  • Identify patients at nutritional risk based on established criteria.
  • Evaluate age-specific, developmental, and disease-specific nutritional needs of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutritional plans of care.
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
  • Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
  • Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits.
  • Adhere to nutrition care guidelines, the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence-based nutrition care.
  • Integrate the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an ADA Registration Exam for Dietetic Technicians required.
  • One to two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred.
  • Licensed Dietician must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Commission Dietetic Registration must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
