About the position

The position involves reviewing, processing, and tracking patient dietary needs, ensuring that patients receive the correct diet orders and food items as prescribed by their healthcare providers. The role includes responding to patient inquiries, providing support to staff in communicating dietary information, and acting as a liaison between patients, physicians, and nursing staff to facilitate proper meal service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Processes patient menus and diet orders in the computer system.
• Assists patients with menu completion and corrections.
• Responds to patient calls providing information and education on diet orders.
• Understands diet restrictions for various diet orders.
• Greets patients and assists them with food order completion.
• Monitors and processes requests for diet orders and follow-up needs.
• Receives and assesses incoming phone calls from patients and staff.
• Monitors incoming faxes and determines appropriate actions for patient needs.
• Reviews menu requests for modified diets and adjusts as necessary.
• Supports providers and staff in addressing patient dietary questions and concerns.
• Acts as a liaison between patients and dietetic staff to ensure food items are delivered as requested.
• Consults with dietetic staff as needed to resolve dietary inquiries.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in a provider office preferred.
• Knowledge of diet orders and ability to follow up on them.
• Ability to effectively interact with patients, providers, and staff.
• Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
• Proficiency in using multiple computer applications simultaneously.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Computrition, FileMaker Pro, Ed-H, and copier systems.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
