About the position

The Dietitian Specialist 3 is responsible for conducting inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments for patients in specialized areas. This role involves collaboration with healthcare team members to implement nutrition interventions and coordinate patient nutrition care. The specialist also provides specialized nutrition education to patients and their families, participates in patient care meetings, and mentors clinical dietitians and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments for patients in specialty areas.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement nutrition interventions.
  • Coordinate the nutrition care of patients.
  • Provide specialized nutrition education to patients and family members in individual and group settings.
  • Arrange for outpatient referrals to specialty clinics if necessary.
  • Attend and participate in patient care meetings, team meetings, and quality meetings as assigned.
  • Provide in-services and lectures to clinical staff.
  • Mentor clinical dietitians and other healthcare team members to improve performance standards.
  • Participate in educating dietetic and medical students.
  • Serve as a consultant for interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a Nutrition-related field required.
  • Three years of clinical nutrition experience required.
  • Certification from Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN) required.
  • Board Certified Specialty certification required within one year of hire or transfer for outpatient clinic positions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outpatient nutrition care.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
