About the position

The Dietitian at Western State Hospital plays a crucial role in the treatment programming for patients in the Child Study & Treatment Center (CSTC) and Habilitative Mental Health (HMH) areas. This position involves direct patient interaction, facilitating educational classes, and collaborating with treatment teams to enhance the nutritional care of patients with intellectual developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classes and groups related to knowledge, skill development, and health-related concepts on a weekly basis.
  • Attend weekly patient treatment meetings.
  • Conduct rounding on wards with patient interactions multiple times a week.
  • Attend patient community meetings at least once per month.
  • Participate in patient program activities at least once per month during scheduled work shifts.
  • Conduct meal observations at least twice per month.
  • Plan food-related activities with other treatment team members.
  • Meet in person with patients according to the established schedule and safety plan.
  • Manage and direct the Nutrition School Meal Program software platform in collaboration with food management staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Dietetics and Nutrition.
  • Completion of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics education program.
  • Registered Dietitian status.
  • 24 months of recent full-time experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
