The Digital Communications Specialist for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University is a junior-level role focused on enhancing the visibility of the department's researchers, educators, and clinicians. Responsibilities

  • Produce and curate digital content to engage users and grow channels.
  • Optimize content delivery strategies and tailor content to specific platforms and audiences.
  • Strategize to build and grow the digital community through social media, blogs, and web initiatives.
  • Manage social listening efforts and respond to online reputation risks.
  • Compile data and analyze social media performance, creating reports with recommendations.
  • Build support for social initiatives among internal stakeholders and advocate for digital best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of digital community strategy and innovative social initiatives.
  • Provide customer service across digital channels and represent the organization to constituents and media.
  • Draft the weekly internal newsletter and provide maintenance support for the department's website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proven experience with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Basic photography and video skills.
  • Experience with graphic design and photo/video editing software.
  • Enthusiasm for social media and knowledge of digital marketing trends.
  • Experience translating social media analytics into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with HTML and website platforms (e.g., AEM, Squarespace).
  • Three years of experience in strategic social media communications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience at Stanford University or in higher education.
