About the position

The Digital Content Creator is part of our vision to pioneer the future of sports and entertainment by assisting in the development, planning, activation, and execution of various marketing campaigns for the San Jose Barracuda. This role works closely with the Manager, Marketing & Digital Media to ensure that paid and organic advertising campaigns are effective at meeting revenue goals across ticket sales, corporate partnership, and more. They will support partnership marketing, community, and live event marketing campaigns through project management, activation duties, and insightful analysis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the development and execution of media plans that encompass digital, TV, radio, print, outdoor, and grassroots efforts, assisting in all associated tasks including media buying, trafficking, script writing, and production. The Digital Content Creator will write and create email communications, develop and execute fan engagement strategies across social media channels and the website, and engage with fans and customers across digital platforms to leverage data for informed decision-making. They will also serve as the departmental contact for copywriting and manage all internal asset trafficking, collaborate with stakeholders to manage departmental project lists, and execute the annual promo schedule and specialty jerseys. Additionally, this role will maximize all marketing cross-promotional opportunities, execute and develop content for special live events, and manage and create social copy for the daily content calendar across various digital platforms. Regular engagement with players, coaches, and other key contributors in social media campaigns is also a critical aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of media plans that include digital, TV, radio, print, outdoor and grassroots, assisting in all associated tasks including media buying, trafficking, script writing, production, etc.
  • Writes and creates email communications including Sales Related content, and KBYG content etc through Emarsys.
  • Develops and executes fan engagement strategy across social media channels and website.
  • Listens and engages with fans and customers across digital platforms and leverages data to inform decision making.
  • Serve as departmental contact for copy writing and manage all internal asset trafficking.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage departmental project lists with creative services - creative, print, and promotional items.
  • Execution of the annual promo schedule and specialty Jerseys.
  • Maximize all marketing cross-promotional opportunities by exploiting all internal marketing opportunities under the general direction of the Manager, Marketing + Digital Media.
  • Execute and develop content for special live events such as Street Rallies, Fan Fests, Draft Parties, Gaming Tournaments, and Skill Competitions while working with cross-functional teams to maximize revenue, impact, and attendance.
  • Develop, execute, and pitch a content strategy that tells the story of sales efforts, and unifies digital engagement, SJS Productions, photography, and creative teams to deliver on-brand content and messaging.
  • Manage and create social copy for the daily content calendar of all digital platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Tiktok.
  • Regularly engages with players, Coaches, Hockey Operations staff, broadcasters, alumni, and other key contributors in social media campaigns, while also supporting their personal brand endeavors.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience working in marketing; experience in a high-performing marketing organization or sports and entertainment organization is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Experience managing social media channels within the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of the latest social media/online culture, jargon and technical features.
  • Digital publishing/CMS experience and basic HTML knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator that is comfortable sharing ideas across functions, and to different levels of the organization.
  • Multi-tasker that is comfortable in an environment of ambiguity, where decisions need to be made quickly.
  • Self-starter that can work independently and show initiative to solve problems in new ways, but communicates and pitches to Management for campaigns.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Be results-oriented and demonstrate strategic instincts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and/or Illustrator a plus.
