About the position

The Digital Content Creator (Multimedia Associate) at Utah State University is responsible for developing engaging digital content for the university's YouTube and social media channels. This role focuses on enhancing the institution's online presence, creating innovative digital strategies, and engaging with both potential and current students. The position requires proficiency in video production, editing, and storytelling, along with a strong understanding of social media trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engaging short-form video content (e.g., YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels) that aligns with the University's brand and messaging.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to YouTube and social media to analyze trends.
  • Maintain an organized content calendar and analytics tracking system to evaluate viewer engagement and channel growth.
  • Help manage, develop, and optimize YouTube platform to build its presence in YouTube and YouTube shorts.
  • Create new digital strategies to push forward the Institution's social media presence while working closely with the Director of Social Media.

Requirements

  • 4 years related experience; OR a bachelor's degree in a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience with editing software such as Final Cut, Adobe Premiere or Davinci Resolve.
  • Experience with video and photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Experience with preparing and maintaining reports related to Youtube and social media to analyze trends.
  • Ability to work during occasional evening and weekend hours to cover campus events, as assigned.
  • Experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Grasp of Gen Z and Gen Alpha demographics
  • Experience in higher education marketing, public relations and/or communications
  • Web CMS experience
  • Understanding of FERPA, HIPPA, accessibility and other governing laws that impact social media content strategy
  • Understanding of how to stay up to date on social media trends.
