About the position

The Digital Content Marketing Specialist at UC San Diego is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise in photography and videography with strategic digital marketing and communications. This position requires a high degree of knowledge in creating digital assets, including video, motion graphics, animations, and web/social content. The specialist will work collaboratively with both internal and external teams to execute creative concepts that align with the university's marketing and communications strategies. Utilizing best practices, data trends, and analytics, the specialist will craft detailed project guidelines aimed at unifying brand content towards set marketing and communications goals. The role involves managing projects and collaborating with team members to achieve high-quality end results. The digital assets created will be utilized across various platforms, including media relations, health websites, marketing campaigns, and employee communications. The position is hybrid, requiring a combination of onsite work at Greenwich Drive and remote work. The responsibilities are divided as follows: 40% digital asset creation, 30% photography, 15% project development and management, 10% video asset management, and 5% studio and equipment management, which includes training for staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Create digital assets including video, motion graphics, animations, and web/social content.
  • Conduct photography sessions for various marketing and communications needs.
  • Manage project development and collaborate with the marketing and communications team.
  • Oversee video asset management, ensuring content is optimized for multiple platforms.
  • Manage studio and equipment, including training staff and contractors on usage.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of related experience in photography/video equipment, editing, and studio production setup, or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three (3) years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in recording and editing video interviews and relevant b-roll.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a medical setting, including surgical and patient rooms.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom, Bridge, Media Encoder).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Experience using DSLR camera systems and digital audio recording equipment.
  • Knowledge of asset management systems and strong journalistic skills for conducting interviews.
