About The Position

WAFF 48 is seeking a Digital Producer/Digital Anchor who is passionate about the digital news landscape and can serve as an on-camera face for the station's streaming platforms. This role involves delivering news on camera, writing stories for the station's website, and managing social media platforms. The position requires weekend shifts and occasional holiday work.

Requirements

• Strong on-camera skills with the ability to think quickly in breaking news situations.
• Creativity in conceptualizing and anchoring content for streaming platforms.
• Proficiency in AP-style news writing for diverse topics.
• Familiarity with web publishing systems or willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of major social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube).
• Willingness to learn SEO best practices and their impact on web traffic.
• Ability to monitor social media platforms and engage with viewers.
• Willingness to learn and utilize digital and social analytics.
• Comfort in contacting public officials and community members for information gathering.
• Team player with the ability to work alongside various newsroom roles.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong on-camera skills and react quickly to breaking news situations.
• Conceptualize and anchor content for streaming platforms, including live content and shows.
• Front breaking news events, including press conferences and talkbacks with reporters.
• Write AP-style news stories for the station's website on various topics.
• Learn and utilize web publishing systems as needed.
• Manage and engage with the station's social media platforms, including responding to viewer messages.
• Learn SEO best practices to enhance web traffic.
• Utilize digital and social analytics to improve content delivery.
• Contact public officials and community members to gather and confirm information.
• Collaborate effectively with newsroom staff, including producers, reporters, and meteorologists.
• Be flexible to work overtime and cover for team members as needed.
