About the position

The Digital Content Producer for the Content Monetization Team at USA TODAY NETWORK/Gannett is responsible for creating and managing audience-focused content that drives revenue through strategic partnerships, events, and monetization efforts. This remote role involves collaborating with various teams to optimize content performance and enhance audience engagement while reporting directly to the Director of Content Monetization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement revenue-focused content strategies.
• Write original content as assigned by the Director, Content Monetization Team.
• Produce high-quality content ideas that are engaging and timely.
• Create and/or source content to support viral/trending and revenue initiatives.
• Attend daily newsroom meetings to plan and assign coverage for the day.
• Understand digital content, framing it for social engagement and measuring its success.
• Oversee, edit, and approve content submitted by freelancers and in-house writers.
• Assign, write, and edit content within the Gannett CMS and external platforms.
• Analyze existing content for potential to increase revenue and/or reach through SEO optimization and other tactics.
• Produce short trending and viral videos as assigned.
• Apply best practices to new editorial efforts, including revenue optimization.
• Support USA TODAY BluePRINT.
• Communicate with and engage editorial teams and other internal partners to execute high-quality content.
• Assess editorial strategies for growing social media impact and audience growth.
• Track content performance using editorial and business tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least four years of professional experience on an editorial team or in a newsroom.
• Experience editing and/or creating content in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience working in different Content Management Systems.
• Familiarity with affiliate networks and corresponding tracking metrics.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Sophisticated understanding of different audience platforms and user behaviors.
• Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
• Understanding of SEO and experience using social media channels to build storytelling and reach readers.
