Responsibilities

• Turn breaking news and enterprise stories into unique online articles, including headlines and multimedia elements.
• Partner with the Assignment Desk to ensure comprehensive coverage of local news and events.
• Post articles on social media to drive engagement and web traffic.
• Edit video content and assign metadata for various platforms including YouTube and the company website.
• Build and monitor livestreams across multiple platforms.
• Create platform-specific social media graphics to enhance storytelling.
• Assist in online coverage of major news events and severe weather to ensure high-quality community coverage.
• Build out special sections and site features to enhance coverage and increase user engagement.
• Interact with fans and followers on social media to foster community engagement.
• Collaborate with editorial and technical staff to migrate multimedia content to new media platforms.
• Optimize user experience by tracking web metrics and applying SEO best practices.

Requirements

• BS/BA in a related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• Generally 3+ years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Skilled with content management systems, HTML, audio editing, image editing, and CSS.
• Strong desire to focus on web-based content and basic HTML formatting skills.
• Working knowledge of FTP and publishing web content.
• Creative with good collaboration and relationship-building skills, able to handle deadline pressure and multitask.
• Experience using and updating social media platforms.
• Photo editing skills with the ability to manipulate and enhance images for publishing.
• Demonstrated experience with creative video editing for social and web platforms.
