About the position

The Digital Content Producer at WNCT TV is responsible for leading the transition from traditional broadcast newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms. This role involves training staff in content creation and editing, developing strategies for station content, and ensuring high-quality journalism across digital platforms. The producer will engage with viewers through social media and the station's website, while also producing original content for various platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition from broadcast-focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms.
• Provide training in methods, processes, and tactics for content creation and editing.
• Develop and lead winning strategies for station content.
• Expertly manage and utilize social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
• Review and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation according to editorial style guidelines.
• Build and reinforce brand recognition through social media and the website.
• Determine story emphasis, length, and format, organizing material accordingly.
• Research and analyze background information related to news stories for accuracy.
• Gather information about events through research, interviews, and attendance at functions.
• Pitch on-brand local and trending stories during morning meetings.
• Check reference materials to obtain relevant facts for stories.
• Shoot and edit content for on-air and digital platforms.
• Produce reports for all platforms, ensuring journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Build and calendar digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials.
• Write stories for the web and other digital platforms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Find new ways to engage with viewers through social media and the website.

Requirements

• Degree in journalism required.
• Daily newspaper or news site experience required.
• Live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred.
• Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Basic HTML preferred.
• CSS, Flash, and other relevant technology skills are a plus.
• Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers.
• Respond positively to feedback.
