About the position
The Digital Content Producer at The New York Post is responsible for producing and crafting compelling stories across various topics, including news, sports, and features. This role involves working closely with reporters and editors to enhance the presentation of stories using multimedia content and social media tools. The position requires a fast-paced work ethic and the ability to meet tight deadlines while contributing to the digital success of an iconic media organization.
Responsibilities
- Produce and package stories for online, mobile, and tablet.
- Enhance the presentation of stories through the use of photos, video, and other multimedia content.
- Work with the digital sports team, producing and writing stories for that section.
- Write smart, pithy headlines that grab readers' attention.
- Use social media and digital tools for news gathering and discovery.
- Monitor traffic and overall site metrics.
- Work cooperatively as a team member under tight deadlines.
- Write 2-3 stories per shift on a wide variety of topics, including breaking, trending, lifestyle, or celebrity news.
- Produce and publish the NY Post iPad app on a nightly basis.
- Publish posts to social media.
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in an online news environment.
- Ability to leverage multimedia content to enhance stories and user experience.
- Strong journalism skills with an understanding of breaking news.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with content management systems, photo editing software, SEO, and web analytics tools.
