About the position

The Digital Forensic Analyst - Journeyman at Peraton plays a crucial role in supporting the Department of State's Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission program. This position involves conducting digital evidence recovery and analysis to assist in criminal, cyber, and administrative investigations. The analyst will leverage their expertise in digital forensics to ensure the integrity and admissibility of evidence while utilizing advanced technologies and forensic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth examinations of digital evidence while maintaining forensic soundness to meet court admissibility standards.
  • Conduct forensic examinations of mobile devices, electronic storage devices, cloud, server, and personal computer systems.
  • Apply recognized scientific best practices for the recognition, collection, analysis, and interpretation of digital evidence.
  • Analyze various operating systems including Android, Apple iOS/MAC, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.
  • Utilize industry-standard forensic hardware and software tools for digital evidence analysis.
  • Provide on-scene support during search warrants, including the identification and collection of digital evidence.
  • Produce comprehensive notes, reports, and exhibits for judicial proceedings and provide expert witness testimony.
  • Collaborate with government and contractor leadership, forensic analysts, and law enforcement to maintain forensically-sound procedures.
  • Stay updated on developments in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and forensic law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience as a digital forensic examiner.
  • At least one approved forensic certification (e.g., GCFE, CFCE, EnCE).
  • In-depth knowledge of forensic analysis of mobile device hardware and operating systems.
  • Experience in handling and packaging electronic/digital evidence during search warrants.
  • Proficiency in using forensic software tools such as Magnet Axiom and Cellebrite.
  • Ability to write detailed notes and reports for non-technical audiences.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves
