About the position

The Digital Graphic Designer (Graphic Artist 3) is a limited duration position within the Brand Strategy and Marketing department at OHSU, responsible for creating a variety of digital assets that support the organization's missions of healing, teaching, and discovery. The role involves maintaining OHSU's visual identity across various digital platforms, including web pages and interactive experiences, while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality design outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce required materials for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with OHSU brand and digital design standards.
  • Develop standardized and accessible digital templates, tokens, patterns, styles, and components.
  • Compose and produce human-centered digital assets for OHSU's web pages, social media, and applications.
  • Translate data from usability studies into user interface design improvements.
  • Lead creative intake and brainstorming sessions, managing the creative workflow for design projects.
  • Establish project deadlines and guidelines for creative execution, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Coordinate interactions with web developers, user experience researchers, and vendors.
  • Participate in efforts to improve creative team workflow and processes.
  • Provide input for the continual improvement of brand standards and digital design systems.

Requirements

  • Six years of graphics arts production experience, with two years in a technical consultation role.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate degree in Graphics Arts may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with graphic arts coursework may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating the ability to create thoughtful digital experiences with an emphasis on accessibility and usability.
  • Experience developing accessible, component-based, and responsive digital design systems.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Figma.
  • Experience creating interactive digital tools and solutions.
  • Understanding of design principles related to composition, color, and typography.
  • Ability to work in a high throughput, multi-project team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience enhancing brand standards in a large organization.
  • Completion of project management or design workflow certifications.
  • Metrics or case studies demonstrating strategic impact in a digital environment.
  • Familiarity with Drupal and front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects or motion graphics software.
  • Experience with drag-and-drop digital design tools.
