About the position

Frontgrade is the largest provider of analog and radiation hardened technology for the United States aerospace and defense industry. As a Digital Hardware Engineer IV, you will play a crucial role in the Space Evolution, where innovation and ideas go hand-in-hand. This position requires a strong background in digital electronics and systems, as well as the ability to independently design and execute complex troubleshooting and debugging tasks. You will be responsible for performing design analysis on complex digital electronic systems and formulating intricate design concepts and technical plans based on both internal and external requirements. In this role, you will provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional development in Digital Engineering. You will also be tasked with designing technical approaches, requirements, and formal written reports for complex projects, effectively communicating test progress, results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management. Additionally, you will architect, create, update, and manage test data for various stages of software testing for complex digital systems, define project architecture, and research the integration of new technology for hardware and software projects. Collaboration with senior engineers to interpret customer requirements and shape technical architecture will be essential, as will the implementation strategy and engineering cost estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute open-ended, complex troubleshooting and debugging tasks for digital electronics and systems
  • Independently perform design analysis on complex digital electronic systems
  • Formulate complex design concepts and technical plan for engineering project based on internal and external requirements
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members professional development applicable to Digital Engineering
  • Design technical approach, requirements, and execution of formal written reports for complex projects to communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management
  • Architect, create, update, and manage test data for use in the various stages of software testing for complex digital systems
  • Define project architecture, research and assess integration of new technology for complex hardware and software projects
  • Work closely with senior engineers to interpret customer requirements, shape technical architecture, implementation strategy, and engineering cost estimation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's engineering degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • 8+ years of direct experience in developing and testing electronics products
  • Access to technology, materials, software, or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws; must be able to obtain a U.S. Government export license(s)
  • Experience with Microchip MPLAB and PIC32
  • Proficiency in Analog Circuit Design/Analysis
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and C
  • Experience in FPGA Design

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's engineering degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • Experience with PLM/SVN/Git
  • Knowledge of RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks), DO-178
  • Familiarity with ARM M-Cortex, CMCIS, and IAR
  • Experience with isolated power supply
  • Experience in hardware bring-up
