About the position

The Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer at BAE Systems will support engineering development, integration, testing, and transition to production of complex electronic modules. This role involves leading a dynamic engineering team, providing electrical engineering support, and ensuring the successful execution of first unit tests, design verification tests, and integration tasks on digital circuit cards and modules.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex high-speed digital circuit card assemblies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers.
  • Support testing and troubleshooting of systems, modules, and sub-assemblies of digital modules.
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other functions to drive defect resolution to root cause.
  • Generate and implement improvements in product and test design to reduce cost and improve throughput.
  • Generate and review technical content of test procedures, drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Interface with governmental customers and suppliers as required.
  • Provide training and support to technicians and manufacturing personnel.
  • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action activities.
  • Mentor peers and junior engineers in areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience.
  • High-speed digital design of circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience with the design, build, integration, and/or test of complex electronic systems.
  • Able to research and apply electrical engineering principles to solve problems.
  • Eligible for DOD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Secret Clearance HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • Industrial temperature or better digital circuit card design.
  • FPGA based circuit card design.
  • Experience with embedded processors, PCIe, Ethernet, 1553, SERDES, Fiber Optic.
  • CAD based schematic capture and simulation.
  • Able to direct layout and routing rules.
  • Post routing simulation.
  • Demonstrated design success in meeting difficult design requirements.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with leadership skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical capability.
  • Experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers.
