About the position

The Digital Initiatives Librarian at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is responsible for managing digital projects, including institutional repositories and digital project platforms. This role involves coordinating with various teams, leading the digitization efforts, and providing instruction and outreach services. The librarian will also initiate and manage metadata-related projects and collaborate with the Research & Education team to enhance bibliographic instruction programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall digital projects including institutional repository and digital project platforms.
  • Coordinate and serve as liaison to Louisiana Digital Consortium and Louisiana Digital Library (LDL).
  • Lead the Digitization team and plan new projects.
  • Initiate and coordinate metadata-related projects including LDL and the Data Catalog.
  • Provide reference and outreach services in collaboration with the Associate Director and Research & Education team.
  • Teach in a formal bibliographic instruction program.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library Science or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in libraries or with institutional repositories.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or related field in addition to Master's in Library Science.
  • 3-5 years of experience in health sciences libraries or working with BePress Digital Commons.
