About the position

The Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Denver Libraries plays a pivotal role in enhancing the library's digital services and initiatives. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of digital projects that support the library's mission to provide access to information and resources for a diverse community of users. The librarian will collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify needs and create innovative solutions that leverage technology to improve access to library resources and services. This includes overseeing the digitization of collections, managing digital repositories, and ensuring the preservation of digital assets. In addition to project management, the Digital Initiatives Librarian will engage in outreach and education efforts to promote digital resources and services. This involves developing training materials, conducting workshops, and providing one-on-one assistance to users in navigating digital tools and resources. The librarian will also stay abreast of emerging trends in digital librarianship and technology, ensuring that the library remains at the forefront of digital innovation. The position requires a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as the librarian will work to ensure that digital initiatives are accessible and relevant to all users. The Digital Initiatives Librarian will also participate in library committees and contribute to the overall strategic planning of the library's digital services.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience with digital project management and digital asset management systems.
  • Strong understanding of metadata standards and digital preservation practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with user experience (UX) design principles.
  • Knowledge of digital humanities and scholarly communication.
