About the position

The Digital Learning Developer will be part of the Global Security team at Mercy Corps, responsible for developing and delivering a diverse portfolio of online and blended eLearning programs focused on safety and security. This role requires expertise in eLearning content creation tools and a strong understanding of adult learning theory to create effective and engaging training materials. The position emphasizes collaboration with subject matter experts and managing multiple projects to meet learning objectives while ensuring accessibility and quality assurance in course development.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing training materials and identify opportunities for improvement and engagement.
  • Develop and revamp online course content, including learning objectives, course frameworks, modules, and assessments.
  • Ensure eLearning courses meet WCAG compliance for accessibility.
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and engage volunteer testers for feedback on eLearning courses.
  • Evaluate learning experiences using data from the LMS to drive continuous improvements.
  • Manage multiple course development projects and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and facilitate content review processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum development, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in digital learning design and online curriculum development for adult learners.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design concepts and principles, with a portfolio of developed materials.
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 and SCORM requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance processes.
  • Proficiency in English; fluency in an additional language (French, Spanish, or Arabic) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated high standard of communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage expectations of internal/external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or security organizations.
  • Experience with diverse populations regarding language, location, and accessibility needs.
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate and/or video production software.
