About the position

The Digital Marketing Manager at the University of California, Davis, is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. This position is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive multimedia marketing and communications portfolio aimed at enhancing the visibility and appeal of graduate education at UC Davis. The Digital Marketing Manager will collaborate closely with deans, directors, and administrators to enrich the Graduate Studies brand through the design and implementation of outreach campaigns, social media initiatives, and digital communications that align with goals for graduate student recruitment, retention, and community-building. In this role, the Digital Marketing Manager will utilize a variety of platforms, both web-based and non-web-based, to execute their responsibilities. Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and website content management systems like Drupal is essential. The manager will also be expected to handle social media content management through platforms like Hootsuite, as well as marketing platforms such as MailChimp or Constant Contact. An important aspect of the role includes tracking, analyzing, and reporting on campaign performance using analytic tools, which will inform ongoing marketing strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director. The Digital Marketing Manager will be expected to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including students, staff, faculty, and alumni, ensuring that communications are clear and impactful. This position not only requires technical skills in digital marketing but also a strong understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as the manager will serve as a marketing strategist and liaison to various stakeholders within the UC Davis community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, maintain, and deliver web content and navigation/architecture systems (50%)
  • Design and implement an integrated social media and web strategy (30%)
  • Develop and manage graphic and written content (15%)
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and work-related experience in marketing, communications, web development or similar; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Knowledge and experience with all aspects of social media communications, including a firm understanding of social media channels and digital platforms.
  • Experience drafting and designing clear, informative, and functional web resources that align with Graduate Studies' brand and objectives.
  • Experience and knowledge of web production, management, accessibility, and SEO optimization.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Canva or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse groups and individuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 5 years experience in digital marketing and communications.
  • Technical skills in digital audio and video recording equipment and editing software.
  • Experience writing, editing, and/or repurposing news for various audiences in digital, online, and print formats.
  • Basic HTML knowledge.
  • Knowledge of campus web standards and editorial/content standards.
  • Project management skills for multimedia or content production.
  • Knowledge of graduate education.
