About the position

The Digital Marketing Specialist position at William & Mary is a vital role within the Office of Auxiliary Services, which is part of the Business Affairs department. This position is designed to capture and communicate the stories of Auxiliary Services, educating both the campus community and the broader public about the various resources, services, programs, and events offered by the department. The Digital Marketing Specialist will be responsible for producing engaging content across multiple communication channels, including social media, digital publications, and the university's website. In this role, the specialist will conceptualize and draft impactful multi-media communication products that resonate with the target audience. They will develop content plans for the main communication channels and individual department accounts, ensuring a cohesive and strategic approach to messaging. Additionally, the specialist will manage content and moderate comments and messages on Auxiliary Services' social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The position also involves identifying opportunities for digital, physical, and paid advertising across various channels to enhance visibility and engagement. The specialist will be expected to capture photography and videography content, as well as create graphic elements for social media and other platforms, contributing to a vibrant and dynamic online presence for Auxiliary Services.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and communicate stories related to Auxiliary Services and its departments.
  • Produce content for various communications avenues including social media, digital publications, and the website.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in marketing, public relations, or communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and professional communications.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, with strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in videography and photography.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in English, public relations, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with a content management system, such as Cascade.
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms such as MailChimp or Constant Contact.
