About the position

The Digital Marketing Specialist at Academics West will play a crucial role in enhancing the institution's communications and branding strategies. This position involves collaborating with various departments to develop and implement a unified marketing plan that encompasses social media, website management, print materials, and outreach efforts to engage stakeholders and attract new students. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a creative flair, capable of managing both large-scale projects and smaller tasks to achieve marketing goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy and Development Officer, the specialist will be responsible for executing a range of marketing initiatives aimed at increasing brand recognition and website traffic. Key responsibilities include drafting and pitching social media content, executing email and SMS campaigns, and assisting in the creation of presentations for school leadership. The specialist will also oversee website updates, manage social media channels, and maintain the organization's brand identity across all public-facing materials. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with various departments to support communication needs and the execution of SEO strategies to enhance online visibility. The specialist will analyze key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and make data-driven adjustments to optimize campaign performance. The position requires a proactive individual who stays updated with the latest digital marketing trends and is willing to implement innovative strategies. The specialist will also be involved in capturing and editing photography and videography for marketing purposes, as well as providing design assistance for various marketing materials. This hybrid role offers flexibility in work arrangements, with the expectation of occasional evening or weekend work around major events.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and pitch social media content to the Founders and Chief Strategy and Development Officer.
  • Execute social media content.
  • Develop, pitch, and execute email & SMS campaigns.
  • Assist with the creation of school leadership presentations and workshops at conferences.
  • Collaborate with marketing, admissions, and school administrators to create engaging content on all platforms.
  • Oversee website updates and social media channels to boost web traffic and respond to direct messages as needed.
  • Manage relationship with website consultant to ensure website content is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Manage reputation through reviews and feedback on platforms like Indeed, Niche, and Google.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to manage the organization's brand identity.
  • Liaise with Development, Admissions, Outreach, Alumni Affairs, and other departments to support communication needs.
  • Craft and execute email marketing campaigns that drive engagement and generate leads.
  • Assist with strategic development for SEO campaigns.
  • Conduct website technical audits to identify areas of concern from an SEO perspective.
  • Monitor competitors' digital marketing activities and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing.
  • Execute pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and content marketing as needed.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Capture photography and videography, edit and customize for social media and in-house materials.
  • Attend program events and provide in-house photography needs and production assistance.
  • Provide design assistance for marketing materials such as brochures and infographics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of marketing experience.
  • Proven experience as a content manager, copywriter, editor, or a similar role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
  • Strong knowledge of content marketing and understanding of SEO and web/traffic analytics.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and other content/publishing tools.
  • Growing technical knowledge, including WordPress, HTML, SEO/SEM, CRM, Google Analytics, and email marketing.
  • Knowledge of graphic design, basic video/audio production, and related software such as Squarespace and Adobe Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management is a plus.
