About the position

The Digital Marketing & Web Specialist position at James River Church is designed to enhance the church's communication and marketing systems. This part-time role involves managing and improving the church's websites and social media presence under the guidance of the Digital Marketing Director. The specialist will create, curate, and publish content while also handling technical aspects of marketing systems and websites, aiming to expand the church's ministry through effective digital strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all James River Church and affiliated WordPress websites and servers.
  • Implement new ideas to improve website presence, user engagement, usability, and security.
  • Apply Search Engine Optimization strategies and practices.
  • Set up and maintain registration systems and check-in processes.
  • Manage the email marketing system, including contact database and email creation.
  • Oversee marketing platforms such as Google Analytics, Moz, and others.
  • Create, proofread, curate, and publish digital content including blogs and event promotions.
  • Train departments to produce relevant content and develop campaign strategies.
  • Research new marketing trends and evaluate their effectiveness in the church context.
  • Coordinate with social media teams to ensure content consistency and engagement.
  • Create and analyze paid social media campaigns, ensuring coordination with organic efforts.
  • Maintain relationships with third-party marketing teams and analyze marketing data for reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in computer science, marketing, communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in webmaster responsibilities and website maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of WordPress, Google Suite, MailChimp, and social media platforms.
  • Experience with inbound and content marketing strategies and digital advertising.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced church office environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in graphic design is desired but not required.
