About the position

The Digital Media and Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the school's digital communication strategies. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for creating and executing high-quality content across various social and digital channels, including video production and social media management. The role aims to support students, teachers, and administration in effectively communicating the school's identity and programs through engaging digital media.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in conceptualizing, designing, and executing high-quality content across all relevant social and digital channels.
  • Produce and design social content and visuals.
  • Create videos of in-class activities and school events for content to be used on TSC sites and social media.
  • Provide support for the creation, implementation, and use of digital resources inside and outside of classrooms.
  • Develop, install, and maintain software and hardware required to support digital media efforts.
  • Produce high-quality programming from various events into compelling marketing assets.
  • Create engaging social media content, including photos/videos, to illustrate brand messaging and marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate documentation and training for the creation of accessible media materials.
  • Document and film classroom, grade-level, and school-wide events and edit content into finished products.
  • Work with the Communications Director on special projects related to school identity and materials.
  • Support administration, teachers, and students with multimedia applications.
  • Participate in Integrated Projects Week.
  • Provide support in coordination of the Annual School Yearbook.
  • Create, review, and edit content with strong attention to detail.
  • Help grow and elevate TSC's digital presence by assisting with media project designs.
  • Develop concepts and campaigns for multiple departments with an emphasis on digital and video executions.
  • Oversee and provide direction on creative content to ensure it is on-brand and optimized for audience journeys.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues as needed.
  • Serve as in-house school videographer and support school photography.
  • Set up, test, and re-pack audio and video equipment before and after events; keep equipment organized and charged.
  • Consult on media-related purchases, particularly for digital video.
  • Support the school's media archives and advise teachers on multimedia projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent and at least 0-2 years of experience (preferably in a school).
  • Working knowledge of and experience with innovative digital media technologies.
  • Photo/video experience as a camera operator, photographer, and editor.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and social media marketing.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and video/photo editing for social media.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on weekends/evenings as needed for events.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and be a proactive problem solver.
  • Physical strength to carry heavy equipment and lift up to 40lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and emerging design program software.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
