About the position

CUMULUS MEDIA | Ann Arbor is seeking a dedicated Digital Media Intern who is eager to gain experience in the radio industry. This internship is an excellent opportunity for currently enrolled college or university students who possess an outgoing personality and a passion for radio. The role involves a mix of general office duties and community engagement, where the intern will interact with listeners and promote our stations. This is a paid internship designed to provide valuable insights into the workings of radio media and promotions. As part of the internship, the Promotions Intern will join our Street Team, representing Cumulus stations at various events. This includes setting up and breaking down promotional materials such as pop-up tents and tables, hanging banners, and engaging with listeners. The intern will also be responsible for registering attendees for prize giveaways. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on their feet for extended periods. In the office, the Promotions Intern will handle various tasks related to prize fulfillment, event preparation, and contest management. This includes creating prize sheets, brainstorming new promotional ideas, and assisting with vehicle maintenance. The ideal candidate will be charismatic, enjoy interacting with people, and have a genuine interest in radio broadcasting. This internship is not only about gaining experience but also about contributing to the vibrant culture of Cumulus Media and its stations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing & execution of promotional events and digital campaigns
  • Execute proper technical and physical set-up and breakdown of remote broadcasts and station events; troubleshoot and resolve issues on the fly
  • Represent stations at events in an upbeat, outgoing and friendly manner
  • Data Entry of Promotional events and contesting
  • Help creating social media posts & website posts; review promotional information and graphics
  • Inventory and maintenance of prize closet, calendars, events for current and upcoming promotions
  • Assisting the Promotions and Marketing Department with projects as needed in the office
  • Assist with vehicle inspections, cleaning, and maintenance
  • Maintain and storage of station equipment

Requirements

  • No experience necessary, however Customer Service experience helpful
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the station for designated shifts
  • Reliable; have a flexible schedule and be available to work at least 10-20 hours per week, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • May require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Outgoing, energetic, detail-oriented and responsible
  • Proficient using computers and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Event experience a plus
  • Radio/Audio and Video Production experience a plus
  • Strong Social Media skills with sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
