About the position

The Digital Plant Solution Architect at Celanese is responsible for supporting Manufacturing Digital Transformation and Capital projects that involve IT-OT systems and integration. This role focuses on developing strategies, frameworks, and standards to enhance the company's Industry 4.0 initiatives, ensuring compliance with architecture standards, and leading technical design and validation efforts for digital manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with manufacturing digitization leaders to develop strategy, framework, standards, and governance in support of Celanese's Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Manage solution ideation, design, and develop technical requirements, reference architectures, and specifications for digital manufacturing solutions.
  • Review business process and functional requirements to optimize solution architecture, recommending options and developing roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Document and ensure compliance with IT, OT, and cybersecurity architecture standards.
  • Analyze current technology architecture and propose improvements.
  • Serve as technical lead for proofs-of-concept to determine value propositions.
  • Lead technical design, development, and validation work during projects.
  • Drive the operationalization of Industry 4.0 / IoT solutions.
  • Support architectural aspects of all digital plant application projects.
  • Coordinate IT service implementation and support for digital plant projects.
  • Integrate solutions with systems and third-party software, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Work directly with internal customers and interface with support teams and partners to resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in chemical or oil and gas sectors.
  • Knowledge of IT, OT, IIoT systems, integration, connectivity, and data management.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Operation Management, Quality Operation Management, Maintenance, Reliability, Integrity, Environmental, Process Safety, Health & Stewardship.
  • Ability to effectively communicate designs and decisions to peers, customers, and management.
  • Experience working with external or internal staff across all hierarchy levels to secure buy-in.
  • Ability to discover, design, and engineer the end-user experience.
  • Familiarity with DCS, SCADA & MES platforms such as Siemens, Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, AVEVA, Osisoft PI, Cognite CDF, Charts, Remote, InField, SAP MII, Barcoding & RFID, and WiFi, 4G, 5G technology adoption.
  • Practical experience in solution architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into IT solutions.
  • Strong planning and communication skills.
